The 19th Annual Meeting of the Collaborative Innovation Center for Elementary Particles and Interactions and the Academic Conference of the Mudanjiang Collaboration Group Were Held at IMU

From September 7th to 9th, the 19th Annual Meeting of the Collaborative Innovation Center for Elementary Particles and Interactions and the Academic Conference of the Mudanjiang Collaboration Group were held in Hohhot. The conference was jointly organized by Peking University, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, Nankai University, and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, funded by the China Center of Advanced Science and Technology, and hosted by IMU and the Inner Mongolia Physical Society. More than 70 experts and scholars in the field of particle physics from 39 universities and research institutes including Peking University, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nanjing University, Fudan University, Wuhan University, Institute of High Energy Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Institute of Theoretical Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the conference.

On the morning of September 7th, the conference officially opened at the academic conference center of Saihan Campus of IMU. Zhou Jiantao, vice president of IMU, delivered an opening speech, extended a warm welcome to the participating experts, introduced the basic situation of IMU, wished the conference a complete success and sincerely invited all experts and scholars to contribute to the construction and development of IMU.

Academician Gao Yuanning, dean of the School of Physics of Peking University, introduced the purpose and tasks of the conference. Prof. Li Xueqian from Nankai University, one of the initiators of the conference, reviewed the history of the Mudanjiang Collaboration Group conference and put forward expectations for young people.

The first Mudanjiang Collaboration Group conference was held in Mudanjiang in 2006. In the nearly 20 years of development, the conference has played a positive role in uniting the Chinese particle physics experiment team and promoting the development of physics disciplines in various universities.

The conference includes reporting sessions and discussion sessions. The reporting session includes 8 invited academic reports and 22 university reports. The content of the invited reports involves the research and related theoretical progress of the BESIII experiment, CMS experiment and PandaX dark matter experiment in the past year. In the university reports, representatives of various universities introduced in turn the situation of the particle physics research team of their respective units, the achievements made in the past year and the future development plans.

Leading experts in the field affirmed the scientific research achievements of various universities, and at the same time put forward constructive opinions on the difficulties faced by young teachers. In the discussion session, Prof. Zheng Yangheng, vice dean of the School of Physics of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, presided over the discussion on topics such as the current development status and future expectations of this field, how young teachers can better integrate into universities and give full play to their own value, and how education and this field should respond in the context of the rise of AI. At the same time, the participating representatives also discussed topics such as cooperation and development among universities, how to promote the recognition of articles of the collaboration group in universities, and how to coordinate the application for funds within the collaboration group. Finally, the conference had a preliminary discussion on the future holding time and candidate locations of the Mudanjiang Collaboration Group conference.

In addition, as part of the conference agenda, on the afternoon of September 7th, the conference organizing committee invited Researcher Li Jin from the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Prof. Li Xueqian from Nankai University to give two popular science reports titled "Looking for the Missing Universe - Unveiling the Mysterious Veil of Dark Matter" and "Inheritance and Innovation" respectively. Under the organization of the Inner Mongolia Physical Society, an enthusiastic audience group composed of teachers, undergraduates and middle school students listened to the reports with great interest and had discussions and exchanges with the two teachers.

As one of the members of the BES collaboration group, IMU's hosting of this conference has enhanced the understanding of IMU by various universities in the collaboration group, promoted the exchanges and cooperation between IMU's particle physics direction and universities across the country, and played a positive role in expanding IMU's popularity in the field of high energy physics.
